Habitat for Humanity Clarksville ReStore will host a volunteer service day on Monday, January 20, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at our downtown location at 404 Madison Street.
This volunteer service event will honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy as part of the annual day of service held across the nation. “Serving on this MLK Day is especially important—not just at Habitat,” said Rob Selkow, Executive Director of Habitat. “The emergency warming shelter at Madison Street United Methodist Church will house as many as 100 guests tonight, so there’s an urgent need for volunteers right now. The beloved community Dr. King dreamed of is one of service to others, and volunteering wherever you see a need is one way to honor that.”
The Clarksville ReStore provides critical funding for Habitat for Humanity, which serves low-income families by partnering with them to build decent, affordable homes. The ReStore is open to the public Monday-Saturday from 9:00 pm – 5:00 pm, and accepts donations of any usable building supplies, home decor, furniture, and appliances.
Volunteers should be 16 and older, wear work clothes and closed-toe shoes, and bring gloves. Habitat provides documentation for those performing community service.
Volunteers should pre-register and are required to sign liability waivers. Sex offender registry background checks are conducted by staff before volunteers can work.
Habitat for Humanity, in partnership with qualifying Montgomery County families, has completed 115 houses since 1992, using donated funds, labor, and new donated building materials.
