Habitat for Humanity’s newest project honors the memory of Dotson Guinn, a beloved business leader and community servant who left a mark and a long line of friends before his passing last year. This build stands as a testament to the belief that everyone deserves the dignity of a safe and stable home.
“A home build is a fitting tribute to a servant-leader of this community who embodied the Habitat principle of helping others by providing a ‘hand up, not a hand-out,’” said Executive Director Rob Selkow. “Dotson’s life was an example of faith in action, and through this build, his spirit continues to lift up others.”
In making their sponsorship gift to Habitat, Trent and Dana Guinn Knott reflected on Dotson’s legacy. “We hope to inspire others to support Habitat for Humanity as they mentor families in need, helping them build a better life through hard work and the pride of homeownership.” Their contribution only honors Dotson’s memory and his legacy of creating opportunity in our community.
YES, I WANT TO DONATE TO THE HABITAT BUILD
Dotson Guinn’s professional journey was marked by excellence and innovation. His career began in banking and later expanded into real estate and various successful business ventures, including Clarksville Ready Mix, Clarksville Disposal, The River Club Golf and Learning Center, and The Villages at the River Club. Yet, it was community service that defined his life. He served as Chair of the Austin Peay State University Foundation, the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce, and the Tennessee Bankers Association. His dedication to bettering the lives of those around him was recognized with numerous awards from the Jaycees, the Industrial Development Board, and the Boy Scouts of America.
The Dotson Guinn Memorial Build is more than just a construction project—it is a living tribute to a man who spent his life building up others. Through this endeavor, we not only honor his memory but also continue the work that defined his life: creating opportunities, fostering hope, and building a stronger, more compassionate community.
