CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (February 14, 2020) – The Clarksville Association of Realtors (CAR) Spreading Our Support (S.O.S.) Foundation is proud to announce a grant approval of $60,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, TN. The grant monies will go toward partnering with Clarksville Fire Rescue to fund a home build for Sherry Elliott that broke ground on February 18, 2020.

The grant will also fully fund the 101st Montgomery County Habitat for Humanity home in 2020.

“The SOS Foundation was founded to help as many people in our community as we can reach through partnerships with other charitable organizations that already have roots in our town.  Habitat For Humanity does such important work in this community and we are proud to partner with them for their 101st project. The significance of this being the 101st home that Habitat is building in a town that Ft. Campbell’s 101st Airborne helped to build makes this partnership even more special to us,” said Monica Trigueros, 2020 SOS Foundation President.

Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, TN was established in 1992 as a ministry to build decent, affordable homes for families living in poverty. Habitat for Humanity provides more than just a home for those striving to move to a more sustainable way of life. They are provided classes on home-ownership, finances and maintenance as well as other topics relevant to owning a home. Recipients assist in building their own home and are required to make a down payment and pay an affordable monthly mortgage. The goal is to give recipients an avenue out of poverty, not just a handout.

“This gift from the SOS Foundation demonstrates their passion and commitment to helping families in need of affordable housing,” Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Rob Selkow said. “With Clarksville Fire Rescue building our next home and funding from the SOS Foundation, it’s a perfect partnership.”

As of 2019, Habitat MCTN has completed 98 homes in Clarksville-Montgomery County. They average four new homes a year and are working to increase that yearly number as the need for affordable housing increases. As an advocate for affordable housing, the CAR S.O.S. Foundation is proud to partner with Habitat MCTN in their mission.

The S.O.S. Foundation was founded in 2019 to capitalize on the association’s fundraising efforts with the goal of being able to help numerous local charities. For more information, the grant application, or to make a donation go to www.clarksvilleaor/SOS.com
